Travis Jade Smeenk

After spending nine months being fearfully and wonderfully constructed by God, Travis made his entrance into this world on the 27th day of December in the year 1980.

God had given him 16,022 days or so of life on this earth and that time came to an end on the 19th day of November of this year, 2024. In between those dates Travis did a lot of stuff. We older folks who knew him and loved him are aware of some of the stuff, but those of you who are closer to his age and spent lots of time with him, know about a lot more. And you are blessed by knowing him and being with him and seeing that bright twinkle in his eyes and that dazzling smile on his lips and hearing that amazing voice singing songs you all loved and some of which he wrote himself. And then there was the guitar-playing and the drumming—both of which he was masterful in what he could make them do. But above all was his warm and receiving heart and his generous spirit that touched so many of you from his childhood days, through his service in the U. S. Army, through his various workplaces, and the countless casual encounters with folks that turned into great friendships. And surrounding it all, the single most important aspect of his life is that he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and trusted him completely. And while we all wish Travis had made some better decisions with his life—his decision for the Lord was what has strengthened us and kept us upright through these final weeks of his earthly life. Because now we know beyond any doubt that he is completely healed, and that he is at play in the fields of the Lord—no tears, no pain, no suffering. Sail on, our dear sweet Travis. We will see you soon.
